Police have confirmed the discovery of woman’s body near the Forth Road Bridge.

Emergency services were called after the discovery of a body under the bridge near South Queensferry just after 8pm on Friday evening.

Police, coastguard and ambulance services were in attendance.

It has since been established that the body is that of a 45-year-old woman.

The woman’s death is not being treated as suspicious by police.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.10pm on Friday, 21 August, officers were called to the Forth Road Bridge in South Queensferry, after the body of a 45-year-old woman was recovered.

"Enquiries to establish the exact cause of death are ongoing, however there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
