Teen faces court over Scottish Cup Final violence

A TEENAGER has appeared in court charged with being part of the mayhem after the Scottish Cup final last month.

Brandon Jones, 18, allegedly breached the Offensive Behaviour at Football and Threatening Communications Act on May 21 by running on to the pitch at Hampden Park when Hibs beat Rangers 3-2.

He is accused of running on to the pitch after the final whistle and towards opposition supporters in an “aggressive and threatening manner”.

Jones, from Clermiston, is also alleged to have assaulted an unknown male and repeatedly strike him on the head and body with a jacket or similar item and cause him to fall to the ground.

He faces a final assault charge of allegedly seizing hold of a man and throwing him to the ground.

Jones appeared from custody at Glasgow Sheriff Court where he denied the charges.

He was released on bail with the conditions not to enter Hampden or attend any football matches and will stand trial later this year.
