Thieves steal solar panel used to protect East Lothian archaeological site from ponies

Police are appealing for witnesses after a solar panel that was attached to an electric fence has been stolen from Traprain Law.

The fence is there to keep grazing, Exmoor ponies out of a site of archaeological interest.

The panel was stolen between 4pm on June 6 and 11.30am on June 7.

Anyone with any information on the theft should contact 101 quoting incident number 1822 of June 7, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Traprain Law has been a hotspot for archaeologists since 1919 when an excavation uncovered a hoard of buried treasure made up of over 250 objects.

These can now be seen in the National Museum of Scotland.
