Two in hospital with 'serious injuries' after Leith incident

Two people have been taken to hospital tonight with ‘serious injuries’ following an incident in Leith.

A man and woman in their 30s were taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after the disturbance at Cables Wynd House.

It is not yet known how the injuries were sustained but a police spokeswoman said they are not thought to be life threatening.

A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Pictures sent to the Evening News showed at least six police vehicles and two ambulances in a car park outside Cables Wynd House, better known as the ‘banana flats,’ earlier this evening. A high speed paramedics car was also visible.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a disturbance at Cables Wynd House in Edinburgh around 4.30pm on Wednesday, 4 March, 2020.

“A 32-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious injuries, although they are not thought to be life-threatening. A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection. The incident was contained and there was no wider threat to the public.”
