An East Lothian primary school has been left devastated after finding their greenhouses vandalised.

Sanderson’s Wynd Primary School in Tranent found their greenhouses wrecked on Wednesday.

They tweeted pictures of the mess saying: “So sad to find our greenhouses have been vandalised.

"They are such a valuable and well used learning space.

"We will need lots of help to repair them.”

A spokesperson for East Lothian Council said: “The school was saddened to find that part of its outdoor classroom, an area that was funded and supported by the parent council and developed by trained staff, had been damaged.

"Outdoor learning is an important part of the curriculum.

"This is an area of the school that the children call ‘The Secret Garden’ and is extremely well utilised.

"The school will be making a community police officer aware.”

School buildings are currently closed due to coronavirus restrictions.

The Scottish Government has announced they hope to have younger pupils back on February 11.
