Woman, 38, charged following Comiston Road collision which left teenage cyclist in hospital

A 38-year-old woman has been charged following a collision in Edinburgh’s Comiston Road which left a teenage cyclist in hospital.

The woman, who was the driver of a car involved in the incident, has been charged in connection with road traffic offences.

No further details are known about the charge at this stage.

Emergency services were called to a collision between a car and cyclist in Comiston Road, near its junction with Pentland Terrace, at about 3:25pm on Wednesday December 9.

Police said a 19-year-old male cyclist was taken to hospital and later released.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 38-year-old woman has been charged in connection with road traffic offences and will be subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Comiston Road was closed at Buckstone on Wednesday following the incident but the road reopened about two hours later.

The Edinburgh Travel News twitter account said there were big queues on Morningside Road and Comiston Road following the collision.
