AN ELDERLY peacemaker has been hospitalised after apparently trying to break-up a fight between two men.

The woman, believed to be aged 87, suffered a suspected broken arm in the fracas on Saturday lunchtime in Musselburgh.

Police were called and confirmed a suspect has been arrested.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Officers have arrested and charged a 34-year-old man in connection with a serious assault in the North High Street area of Musselburgh that took place at around 12.15pm on Saturday, 22 February.

"A woman was taken to hospital by ambulance with a suspected broken arm. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
