Contemporary artist Colm O’Brien, from Dalkeith, has opened his first solo exhibition.
A Brush with Colour will run at Edinburgh’s West End Henderson’s @ St Johns gallery-café until August 23.
Colm, who paints with vibrant acrylic colours, is fast building a new fan base in the UK and overseas, with is work now in private collections in Australia and Japan. He hopes that the timing of his exhibition, to coincide with Edinburgh’s creative festivals, will extend it further.
Colm said: “Every artist knows how tough it is to put together their own exhibition. So many different people visit Edinburgh during the festival period and it is humbling to be able to show my work during such an important time in the creative arts calendar.”
Neil Taylor, a partner with Glasgow-based independent financial advisers Blythswood Associates Partner, who are backing the exhinition, said: “We’re really excited about Colm’s new exhibition as his use of colour is uplifting. It embodies the spirit of optimism in 2012, despite the often gloomy news headlines and the recent weather.”
