X Factor star Caitlyn Vanbeck is set to open next year’s Midstock Festival.
Producers wanted to make sure the 17-year-old from Tranent was supported following her disappointing X Factor exit.
Caitlyn, who has vowed that her music career is just beginning, did not get through to the Judges’ Houses stage of the popular TV show after a tense knockout round at Wembley Arena.
Festival organisers Wullie Slight and Scott Gunn said: “We are delighted to have Caitlyn join us for the 2016 show. Yes, we have big names on the bill, but we’re also committed to supporting local, emerging talent when and where we can. The chance to have this amazing performer on the show was too good to pass up. She lives just down the road so she’s not got far to travel.”
Caitlyn, a first-year student at Edinburgh University, said she was thrilled to be asked: “If you have passion for music and fun then Midstock is the place to be. I can’t wait to perform next year.”
Midstock Festival was hailed a huge success this year, with The Fratellis and Fish playing to a crowd of more than 5000 people at Dalkeith Country Park.
