Dalkeith conservative throws hat into the ring

Andrew Hardie has been named as the Scottish Conservative candidate who will stand in the forthcoming Midlothian East by-election.

Raised in Midlothian, Mr Hardie has a range of experience having worked for a tea merchant and in the finance industry as well as serving as a reservist for the Royal Navy.

In 2011 he fought the Scottish Parliament seat of Almond Valley. More recently he played a lead role in the No campaign in Midlothian, where he spoke to people about the positive reasons to remain in the UK.
