More than 7,000 visitors are expected to descend upon Dalkeith Country Estate this weekend for a world-famous endurance challenge.
The 300-year-old estate will be transformed by Tough Mudder – dubbed “Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet” – into a punishing assault course designed by Special Forces to test fitness, mental strength and camaraderie.
The course includes a 10-12 mile run with 20-25 military-style obstacles involving fire, mud and ice-cold water – not to mention 10,000 volts of electricity – designed to test mental toughness and push physical endurance to the max.
Attracting participants and spectators from all over the world, the Scottish leg of the gruelling challenge will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
