THE organisers of the annual Dalkeith Festival have thanked all those who turned out to support the event, despite the weekend’s bad weather.
The afternoon programme progressed despite the rain, with the parade and the opening ceremony, featuring a breakdancing demonstration from the winners of Dalkeith’s Got Talent and a show from Bonnyrigg and Poltonhall Baton Twirlers.
There was also some fun from Jangles the clown, while the Milestones and other support acts provided entertainment in the licensed bar.
Festival secretary Margot Russell said it would have been impossible for the evening events to go ahead under such wet conditions, and apologised to anyone who had turned up for them.
The festival committee is now looking at fundraising for 2012, which will be the 50th anniversary of the event, and plan to mark the occasion with a combination of old ideas and new events.
