Police in Midlothian are appealing for witnesses following two housebreakings in Dalkeith.

Between 5pm and 11pm on Monday 9th August an address in Kerr Avenue was entered and a quantity of jewellery, worth a four-figure sum was stolen from inside.

A second incident at an address in Eskview Grove, Eskbank was also reported and took place between Friday 5th and Wednesday 10th August.

Jewellery was again stolen and inquiries are continuing to establish the total value.

Officers believe both break-ins are linked and are urging anyone who can assist with their inquiries to come forward.

Constable Kris Burns of Dalkeith Police said: ”The occupiers from both properties were left deeply upset at the theft of their possessions and we are conducting various local inquiries to trace those responsible.

“Anyone who remembers seeing anything suspicious around Kerr Avenue or Eskview Grove, or who has any other information that can assist with this inquiry is asked to contact police immediately.”

Those with information are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or make an anonymous report to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
