A DALKEITH town centre pub has been given the go-ahead to stay open until 3am on New Year’s Day morning.
Midlothian Licensing Board recently granted The Buccleuch’s extension with a raft of conditions attached.
Applicant Barracuda Pubs and Bars Limited sought the two hour extension for the High Street bar to host a Hogmanay party.
Local police had objected to the application to extend the 1am licence to 3am, citing the additional stress it would put on police resources and the likelihood it could contribute to incidents of antisocial behaviour in the area.
Barracuda agent Jack Cummins explained the party was to be a ticket-only event. The premises would close at 6pm on Hogmanay and reopen at 8pm for the party. Children would not be permitted in the pub for the function.
