PUPILS at St David’s RC High School in Dalkeith have returned to Midlothian following a harrowing trip to Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland.
As part of lessons from the Holocaust Educational Trust-organised Auschwitz Project, S6 pupils Niall Martin and Louise Hutton joined a group of 200 other pupils for the visit on October 8.
Louise explained: “Visiting Auschwitz was for both of us a difficult experience, but one which we both feel was immensely valuable and worthwhile.
“We learned many lessons which were all powerful and relevant. However, the most poignant was one articulated to us by Holocaust survivor Ziggy Shipper.”
