Thanks to the Rotary Club of Dalkeith, more than 40 pensioners were able to enjoy a recent tea dance event at Bonnyrigg Ex-Servicemen’s Club.
Making the trip from Woodburn Day Care, Glenesk House, Highbank Day Care and Esk Place sheltered housing, pensioners jumped at the chance of a door-to-door ride from Rotarians. Once inside the club, they lapped up the music of Duncan McBain ahead of a spot of bingo and a cup of tea.
For the Rotarians, Hilary Watkinson said the outing was a way of thanking the old folk for kindnesses shown to others down the years. She added: “It was also an opportunity to catch up with old acquaintances and for introducing some of the group to a new social activity in the community.
“To call it a knees-up is maybe going a bit far, but there is no doubt our guests knew how to party. Everyone had a smashing time.”
