Ruth Sutherland and Naivasha Macmillan won the last final match of the night to snatch a 6-6 draw at Drummond 2 in the Dunlop East of Scotland Ladies’ League Division 6B.

Having already beaten Sarah Bainbridge and Holly Foxwell 6-4, 6-4, Sutherland and Macmillan beat Drummond’s top pairing of Emma Barrack and Claire Hodge 7-5 in the last match on court. Elaine Gray and Meg McDermott added the other three sets for newly promoted Dalkeith, who host Aberdour 2 on Thursday.

After a 6-0 Scottish Cup defeat at Division 1 Braid on Saturday, Dalkeith 1 went down 9-0 to Grange Dyvours 1 in the Dunlop East of Scotland Men’s League Division 4B on Monday. Grahame Forbes and Gareth Stewart pushed the visitors’ Alfredo Gonzalez Sulser and Stephen Lucas all the way but were edged out 7-6, 7-6 in a marathon first round match.

Dalkeith 2 went down 8-4 at Dunfermline 3 in Division 8B, with Gordon Scott and Angus Scott winning two sets and Michael Robson and Stephen Smith, and Nigel Gray and Frank O’Donnell one each.

Newly formed Dalkeith 3 lost 9-5 at home to Hatton 3 in Division 9A. Simon Bowman and Will Gray both made impressive debuts, winning four of their five sets, with John Slater and Gordon Brown adding the fifth.

League action continues this week, with Dalkeith 2 at home to Mortonhall 3 and Dalkeith 3 at Barnton Park 4 on Wednesday, while Dalkeith 1 head to Kirkcaldy 1 on Monday.

Dalkeith’s Boy’s 14 & Under side made it two wins out of two with a 10-2 home win over Thistle on Sunday. Dalkeith won all three matches in the first round with Ryan Cairns beating Ross Campbell 6-4, 6-2, and Daniel Elliot easing past Arran Watt 6-0, 6-0 in the singles while Tommy Bekker and Adam Cairns edged past Aidan Fergus-Allan and Zac Ferguson 6-2, 4-6, 10-3 in the doubles. Cairns and Elliot secured the win in their doubles, with Bekker adding a fifth in the singles. Ferguson edged past Kerr Houliston 2-6, 6-0, 10-3 for the only win for a young Thistle side.
