Walking ten miles to work and back for five days straight was something that Dalkeith woman Jackie Turnbull took in her stride recently.
During ‘Walk to Work Week’, the 100-mile feat saw the SEStran administrator commute from her Dalhousie Place home all the way to Leith.
Ahead of the challenge, the 44-year-old told the Advertiser: “I think I can do it but the real challenge will be doing a full day’s work and then thinking about walking all the way home.”
As an added incentive, Jackie used the week-long event to raise more than £150 for the Sick Kids Foundation.
Afterwards she said: “I have really enjoyed the challenge, though I must admit I was pretty footsore by the end of the week.
“Knowing that I was doing it to help raise funds for the Sick Kids kept me focused.”
