The group of 13 girls recently made it past semi finals of the That’s Showbiz competition for group dance at The Blackpool Opera House, after qualifying from the regional event in Musselburgh in October.

Dance Pointe Academy is led by Julie De Havilland. She said: “I’m delighted. They girls are absolutely delighted, they did great. I’m so proud of them they have done so well.

“They did a contemporary piece called the Speech. It wasn’t a song as such. A speech from the movie The Dictator’s Speech. I choreographed it. There is music in the background but mainly just speech. It’s just moving to feeling. They had been working on it for two months.

“It’s such a prestigious competition. We are really happy to have got through.”

The grand final will be held in Liverpool at the Echo Arena on March 3.

Julie added: “Just to dance on a stage that big is an experience in itself.

“We started this team just a year ago and this is only their third competition. They have done amazing.

“The final is going to be massive. The competition standard is really high, with lots of big dance schools from all over Britain.

“So for us to get there is massive. They are really good girls and they work so hard.”
