Development Trust likely for Dalkeith hub project

As the Advertiser’s ‘Give us a Hub’ campaign continues to gather steam, it has emerged that a development trust is the most likely way forward for Dalkeith to establish a community centre.

Douglas Strachan, who helped form a joint working group following a public meeting in February, gave members of Dalkeith Community Council a recent update on developments: “We’ve had a positive dialogue concerning the three main themes which are the regeneration of the town centre, the desire for more community facilities and a wider aspiration to bring together the disparate parts of Dalkeith. We will now continue this consultation as widely as possible for as long as possible, and have decided that the joint working group should be broadened out to as many people as possible.

“The consultation will culminate in another public meeting. It’s probable that some sort of development trust will be formed.”
