Disabled residents in Midlothian to lose benefits

Up TO 1,146 disabled people in Midlothian are set to lose their Disability Living Allowance.

The UK Government is planning to remove 20 per cent of its spending on Disability Living Allowance when it is replaced with the new Personal Independence Payment.

The ENABLE Scotland charity is calling on the Government to reconsider its plans.

Under the new proposals, it may be considered adequate not to offer support to people unless they reach ‘a level of self neglect’ in bathing, washing and grooming.”
