'Disgusting' Boxing Day vandals went on vehicle wrecking spree in Musselburgh

Vandals who went on a Boxing Day wrecking spree targeting cars in Musselburgh are being hunted by police.

The thugs caused hundreds of pounds of damage after at least eight cars were targeted in Musselburgh, East Lothian.

Pictures of the festive carnage have been posted on social media with the culprits slammed as “scumbags”.

Andy Wood said: “Disgusting - what a terrible thing to do to folk at this time of year.”

Sarah McCormack posted: “Someone must know who did this. Scumbags.”

And Fiona Johnstone added: “I can’t believe someone would do this, especially at Christmas. Hope the police catch them quick.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A number of reports have been received relating to vehicles vandalised in Musselburgh overnight between Saturday, 26 December and Sunday, 27 December.

“These include in the James Street, New Street, Clayknowes Way, Whitehill Avenue and Somerset Fields areas of the town.

“Enquiries are ongoing and at an early stage to establish any links between the incidents.”
