EAC want Women's League cheats punished

Despite a number of their stars missing the first two matches Edinburgh AC have consolidated their position in the UK Women's League Premier Division with one meeting remaining.

EAC finished fourth out of eight in the second match at Eton. However, the points have still to be scrutinised amid reports that some teams have been fielding unregistered athletes.

Team manager Anne Scott said: “We have been keeping scrupulously to the rules but we’ll be very annoyed if other clubs go unpunished.”

Broxburn’s Susan McKelvie won the hammer in Eton with a throw of 60.22 metres, Hannah Evenden winning the B string event with 53.65m for EAC’s only double. There was a n excellent personal best of 6:54.46 by Lauren Stoddart, who finished second in the 2000m steeplechase despite feeling unwell. She is now eighth on the Scottish All-time list for the event and she hopes to improve it again in the final meeting in London on August 8.
