A WOMAN from Easthouses has told the Advertiser about her unusual discovery at Gore Glen Woodland Park last week.
Lisa Martin (39) was out walking on April 15 with her partner Stevie Laing (41), when they noticed a terrapin in a small pond at the park.
Lisa told of the moment they discovered the species of turtle, native to swampland in the USA.
She said: “We were standing there having a wee look in and there must have been 20-30 frogs and lots of frog spawn in there.
“While we were looking at them, I heard movement a bit further down and saw the terrapin coming out of the water and going up on to the embankment.
“I didn’t know what it was at first. You don’t see something like that everyday.
“I notified the SSPCA as it is not normal to see a terrapin in Gore Glen. Someone had obviously dumped it there.
“We didn’t touch it or anything, we didn’t want to startle it. We just waited there until the SSPCA arrived.”
