OLYMPIC gold medal winner Katherine Grainger has revealed she only started to take rowing seriously after being knocked back from the Edinburgh University team.

OLYMPIC gold medal winner Katherine Grainger has revealed she only started to take rowing seriously after being knocked back from the Edinburgh University team.

The Glasgow-born rower won her first gold in the double scull at the London Olympics after silvers in previous Games.

She said that she had a “moment” when she was sitting on Arthur’s Seat when she vowed “never to let herself down”.
