Newbattle Abbey College’s Lord Ancrum’s Wood is on the pathway to recovery with a £100,000 development programme.
Funded through the Forestry Commission Scotland, the project will improve existing pathways and make better use of the ancient woodland that surrounds the historic college.
The investment has enabled contractors to lay an all-weather footpath along the river to upgrade existing walkways and to improve high areas of the woodland to allow easier access for future work.
The native woodland, which sits on the banks of the River South Esk, has been managed by Forestry Commission Scotland in partnership with Newbattle Abbey College for the last four years.
