Conservative Lothian List MSP Jeremy Balfour was in Midlothian last week visiting two education facilities.
Mr Balfour visited Lasswade High School to meet with pupils studying higher modern studies, and take part in a Q&A session designed to help the pupils research their modern studies assignments.
He said “I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the Lasswade High School pupils answering a wide range of topics such as reducing poverty in Scotland, Brexit, and education inequalities in Scotland.
“I was impressed with the level of knowledge and enthusiasm shown by the pupils to these key topics facing our country and wish them all the best for their assignments.
“It would be great to think I might have been speaking with the next generation of potential MSPs!”
On the same day, Mr Balfour also visited Newbattle Abbey College campus and met with vice-principal Marian Docherty.
He said “I was delighted to take this opportunity to find out more about the courses offered by Newbattle Abbey College and hear from Marian Docherty about their community engagement work and experience in disability issues.”
Mr Balfour recently tabled a motion in the Scottish Parliament congratulating the College on securing £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to support their practical Beekeeping course which takes place in the grounds of the Abbey.
