Eggs could save chickens at Roslin

SCIENTISTS in Midlothian are to use the latest technology to safeguard valuable breeds of chicken.

Stem cells taken from chicken eggs are to be kept in frozen storage at the National Avian Research Facility being built at the University of Edinburgh’s Easter Bush Campus.

The stem cells could be used to resurrect breeds of chickens killed off due to outbreaks such as avian flu.
