Penicuik Town Hall has reopened to the public after engineers carried out an assessment of the clock.
The Gravity Bottle Shop tweeted us a photos of workmen in a cherry picker on the High Street.
A Midlothian Council spokesman said: “The building closed to customers earlier today as part of the external clock had become unstable.
“A structural engineer has been on site. He removed a decorative wooden leg from the clock. There is no structural damage.”
