Birkenside Fun day went without a hitch on Sunday with a large attendance and lots of free entertainment for all.
The weather, always a key factor in success for such events, was kind. Cloudy, but most importantly it was dry.
This Gorebridge fun day began as it has on the previous 14 occasions with a stirring contribution from Borthwick Pipe Band.
Tricky Ricky entertained the crowd with his magic show and there were quad bikes, kiddies rides, laser quest, pony rides and free prize bingo on offer.
However, some of the simpler more basic activities seemed to be most appreciated, the fun races at the end of the event are always popular but so too was local resident Mary Jacobs, who brought along hoola hoops and encouraged people to have a go.
Speaking after the event, Birkenside Community Partnership chairman Jim Muirhead said: “This was another great event staged by our small community, which although free to the public, helped raise more than £700 towards next year’s fun day from raffles and tombola stalls run by our volunteers.”
