Kind-hearted customers of Dalkeith’s Tesco superstore have donated a fantastic £502.22 to Alzheimer Scotland.
The Hardengreen store recently held a free family fun day in aid of the charity, consisting of free hog roast sandwiches for all the family and face painting, a Celtic decoration craft workshop, stilt walker and two children’s entertainers to keep the little ones entertained!
Store manager Bill Nisbet was delighted with the whole day, and really proud with the amount of money customers donated to Alzheimer Scotland. He said: “We all had a fabulous day, and I would like to thank everyone who donated their time and money to support such a great charity.”
Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer Scotland are Tesco Charity of the Year 2011. The partnership hopes to raise £5 million to build a better future for people with dementia by funding research, Dementia Community Roadshows and Dementia Support.
Henry Simmons, chief executive for Alzheimer Scotland, said: “We are overjoyed to be working with Tesco this year and thrilled that Dalkeith shoppers donated such a great amount of money. Donations like this one will help us reach our target and support local people with dementia.”
