Ex-girlfriend woke with no memory of fire

Lynsey Methven, 30, said it was only later that she realised the extent of her own injuries – which have left her blind in one eye, deaf in one ear and unable to walk without help.

Her mum was at her bedside in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary when Ms Methven came to, unable to remember a fire in her flat. She described how she and Aberdeen supporter, Stewart Taylor, watched his team on TV, ate takeaway pizza and drank wine and beer.

Ms Methven described their last evening together during a second day of evidence at the High Court in Edinburgh.

“It was snowy at that point and it was very, very cold,” she told advocate depute Gary Allan QC, prosecuting.

Mr Allan asked if she had recollections of other events that day. “The day Stewart died? No I don’t,” Ms Methven replied.

Mr Allan asked about her next memory. “Waking up in hospital and pulling out the tube that was helping me to breathe,” she said.

Ex-boyfriend Frank Moore, 43, of Bothwell Crescent, Edinburgh, denies murdering chef Mr Taylor and attempting to murder Ms Methven.
