Following a year of hard work, four students from Lasswade High have been celebrating the attainment of five A grades in their Higher exams.
Hannah Fergusson, Amber Kelly, Alex McGregor and Ellie Stewart are still buzzing after the release of the SQA results.
The girls achieved the top grades in Higher English and Higher Maths as well as excelling in the sciences - each sat at least one science subject including Chemistry, Human Biology and Physics.
Alex, Ellie and Hannah each attained an A in Higher Modern Studies and Higher Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies, while Amber achieved an A grade for Higher Music.
The four are now back at school for what will be a busy sixth year. As well as studying for subjects at Advanced Higher Level, they are involved with in-class support for younger pupils. Alex is this year’s Lasswade High School Head Girl. All four spent part of their summer holidays on a Lasswade High School expedition to Ghana.
Lasswade High received impressive results at all levels this year, equalling last session’s best ever fourth year results and improving attainment at Highers across all indicators.
Alan Williamson, headmaster at Lasswade, said: “Individual student results are always far more important to focus on than school statistics or league tables.
“We have a fantastic new school at Lasswade which provides an outstanding learning environment and an incredibly talented and committed teaching staff.
“Last session we introduced a mentoring support systems for senior students and I am really pleased that the students have been rewarded for their efforts.”
