From a ten mile yomp across the Pentlands to the latest fun sports of canicross and nordic walking, this year’s annual Midlothian Walking Festival will be four days of fun and fresh air.
Bookings are now being taken at Midlothian Council for the event, which takes place over four days from Friday to Monday, August 12. Last year 300 people took part in the series of guided walks and cycle trails led by knowledgeable and experienced local guides.
That number was 10 per cent up on the previous year and the council is hoping this festival, which is organised by the Ranger Service, will be even busier.
Councillor Bob Constable (SNP), cabinet member with responsibility for the festival, said: “This event just seems to go from strength to strength and the feedback we get from everyone taking part is so positive.
“I can completely see why it’s one of the highlights of the year. Midlothian boasts some of the finest countryside in Scotland. You see so such stunning scenery and wildlife and, quite often, there’s the chance of alight refreshment at the end of it. What better way to spend your weekend?”
