Fairtrade a-peels to Scotmid

LIFE-SIZED gorillas and six-foot bananas greeted Scotmid customers in Stockbridge yesterday as the store showcased its commitment to Fairtrade produce.

Bananas across all 190 Scotmid stores have now been switched to Fairtrade and the firm drove home that message with an example of monkey business in the Capital.

Scotmid is offering discounts of 20 per cent off selected products to mark Fairtrade Fortnight, which runs until March 20.

Emma Cairns, branch supervisor at Scotmid in Stockbridge, said: “Hopefully our monkey business will encourage shoppers to stop and think about the global benefits of picking up Fairtrade products locally.”
