Family feud blamed for death of killer’s father-in-law

Adam Hendry collapsed in the street as he walked to work from his Gilmerton home.

It’s suspected the 49-year-old died from a heart attack.

Jamie Bain and long-time fiancee Dionne Hendry, Mr Hendry’s daughter, wed at a ceremony in Shotts prison where he is serving life for gunning down former boxing champion Alex McKinnon.

It’s feared the jail wedding reignited a bitter feud between the Bain family and the Hendry clan.

The bad blood is thought to be behind recent attacks in the south of Edinburgh.

Friends of Mr Hendry said he was “under great stress” as a result of the jailhouse wedding and threats he had been receiving.

One of the last posts he put on his Facebook page was “I don’t care about gangsters and their WAGs, give peace a chance.”

The dead man was a respected boxing coach and one of his prodigies was Alex McKinnon, who Bain gunned down in Edinburgh’ Marmion pub in 2006.

Dionne’s Range Rover was shot at as she drove through Gilmerton last month.

Two bombs, made out of petrol drums and shotgun cartridges, were also left on her doorstep, and a third at the Liberton home of a Bain associate
