Fears for future of Midlothian’s rural bus services

RESIDENTS in a clutch of Midlothian communities are fighting to save their local bus services.

People living in and around Edgehead, Ford, Pathhead and Fala are worried that a limited timetable may affect the viability of routes.

Tynewater Bus Users’ Forum was created earlier this year in response to Midlothian Council wavering when the contract for the Cousland bus was due to be tendered.

A public meeting drew a good attendance, with locals adding their support to the campaign to save the bus service.

The forum held another meeting at Pathhead last week to discuss its next move on safeguarding the 51/52 service.
