Fire crews cut driver free after smash

Firefighters cut a driver free from his car following an accident in Moredun .

The incident took place just before 4pm yesterday at Craigour Green, with fire crews taking just over 20 minutes to rescue him.

The crews, from Liberton and Newcraighall, used hydraulic cutting gear to remove the door.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said it was believed the driver had collided with a metal pole and had become trapped in the vehicle as the door was damaged. He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary suffering from an injury to his foot.
