Flood alert issued for Edinburgh and Lothians

A FLOOD alert was today issued for Edinburgh and the Lothians after “intense” rainfall.

The warning was issued by SEPA, who said an “isolated area of intense rain” had formed over the Capital and parts of East Lothian which they believed was likely to continue for some time.

The agency warned that surface water flooding was likely over the next few hours, which could cause drainage issues and travel disruption.

They also warned of a possibility of some river flooding.
