Torrential rain played havoc for motorists in Midlothian last week.
Flooding closed the A7 between Sheriffhall roundabout and park and ride for around 17 hours, forcing Thursday evening commuters to find alternative routes home.
Midlothian Council began urging caution on Thursday morning warning that the road was passable with care. Specialist pumping equipment was mobilised to tackle the flooding.
However, by early afternoon, the road was closed in both directions to allow tankers to access the scene to drain the water. The road remained closed overnight and reopened around 7.30am on Friday morning.
