Fraud teams save health service £43m

MILLIONS of pounds worth of fraud has been prevented across the Lothians thanks to a specially assigned team, it has emerged.

NHS Scotland’s counter fraud service team said in the past decade it had managed the crackdown on a range of people who tried to con health boards out of money.

Across the country, £43 million has been saved.

Public health minister Michael Matheson said: “We will not tolerate fraudulent behaviour in our NHS.”
