Funding boost to help drug misuse families

A PROJECT which supports children and families affected by parental drug and alcohol misuse has been given a six-figure funding boost.

Edinburgh-based charity Circle has received a grant of £134,368, over three years, by the Partnership Drugs Initiative (PDI), which is operated by the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland in partnership with the Scottish Government.

The money will go towards the charity’s Harbour Early Years project, which aims to give the children of substance-misusing parents the best start in life.

It currently works with families with children of any age, though the majority are primary school pupils.

A new service will now be launched which targets families with children aged under five.
