RESIDENTS have hit out at a lack of action to clean up fly tipping in Mayfield.
Tyres, gas canisters, fridges and even a sofa have been dumped in woods near Westhouses.
The area, known locally as the Old D’Arcy Road, is popular with dog walkers, but is being blighted by dumped tyres and other rubbish.
Local residents and Mayfield and Easthouses Community Council have written to Midlothian Council asking for the area to be cleaned up.
George Smith, who lives in nearby Watt Grove, said: “All this stuff’s been getting dumped for quite a while now. I reported it in March and got an email response, then I spoke to a girl to try and clarify but I’ve heard nothing from them.”
