Galleries and museums net £300k culture project cash

The National Galleries of Scotland and National Museums Scotland have each been awarded a £300,000 investment from the Scottish Government.

The cash is part of a £1.1 million package of support for culture projects announced by the Culture Minister Fiona Hyslop.

The £300,000 for the National Galleries of Scotland will go towards maintenance, repairs and the improvement of facilities for visitors.

In addition, National Museums Scotland has received £300,000 for estates maintenance from the existing 2011-12 capital budget.

Ms Hyslop said: “This government is committed to ensuring Scotland’s vibrant cultural sector continues to thrive. What goes on behind the scenes is critical to the success of the performances, exhibitions and activities enjoyed by people all over Scotland. That is why we are continuing to invest in and enhance the infrastructure supporting the sector.”
