Ghillie Dhu joins the club

A CITY nightspot has been voted the best small venue in the UK.

The Ghillie Dhu, in Edinburgh’s west end, scooped the prize at the UK Event Awards.

The bar and club, owned by nightclub tycoon Stefan King’s G1 Group, fought off competition from across the country.

After opening at Rutland Place last year, the two-floor venue – which was used at the Fringe – has fast become one of the Capital’s most popular.

It has been praised for its commitment to live music, putting something on every night of the week, and its Scottish tradition, by having bar staff in kilts and holding ceilidhs every Friday night.
