MORE people should have been consulted about a proposal to site Olympic rings at Hillend, a councillor believes.
Councillor Owen Thompson (SNP) was reacting to the recent Advertiser exclusive, which confirmed Provost Adam Montgomery’s bid to introduce a large metal depiction of the Olympic symbol above Midlothian Snowsports Centre.
Although the SNP group has still to take a formal position on the project, Councillor Thompson offered his personal view.
He said: “It is surprising that what could be an issue of significant impact has not had consultation through the council or wider with the public.
“I’m personally not in favour of this proposal and, as the ward I represent includes Hillend, I would have thought it might have been an idea to at least speak to the local members first.”
