Glasgow task force lifts 700 tons of litter as Edinburgh bin collection issues continue

A special task force in Glasgow has cleared more than 700 tons of rubbish in response to reports of rubbish on dedicated social media channels.

The results from Glasgow come as residents in Edinburgh have been inundating the Evening News with complaints about litter and rubbish collection in the Capital.

The task force involves 21 rapid-response teams who respond to issues as raised through social media with the teams with the majority of issues being resolved in just a day.

According to the Evening Times report, in some areas of the city, 96% of complaints were handled in 12 hours.
