A Gorebridge man recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s is urging people to pull funny faces to help raise money to find a cure for the disease.
Martin Taylor (32) learnt he had Parkinson’s, a condition usually associated with older people, when he returned to work at HSBC bank from his Christmas holidays.
But Martin has refused to let this devastating news drag him down and hopes his #funnyfacechallenge takes off.
He said: “The inspiration was the ice bucket challenge last year. I just wanted to start the same kind of thing, that will hopefully go viral.
“As one of the possible symptoms of Parkinson’s is the loss of facial ability I want people to celebrate facial expression and with each picture posted online donate £5 to Parkinson’s UK. We have raised over £2,000 in just over a week.
“It’s starting to take off, the charity itself has now endorsed it. Hopefully it continues to gain momentum and raise money for and awareness of Parkinson’s.”
