The people of Gorebridge enjoyed two parades last weekend as part of the “best ever” Gorebridge Gala Week.

As well as the traditional parade on the Saturday, locals young and old took part in a fancy dress parade on the Friday night.

Anne Haining, vice-chair of the Gorebridge Gala Day Committee revealed that she and her fellow committee members got into the spirit of things at the new Friday night addition to the gala week, which she has promised will return next year.

She said: “We have had a great response from people saying it was a brilliant gala day.

“And Friday night was a great success.

“We tried it as a new thing, parading at 6.30pm from Arniston Rangers’ car park, ending at Gore Glen Complex, and we had Mickey and Minnie Mouse there too.

“It was very successful.

“We also used the Friday night to bring back the races and tug of war, like we used to have years ago.

“We plan to do the Friday night fancy dress parade every year now. As it was such a big success.

“And it wasn’t just the kids that came in fancy dress.

“We were worse than the kids, we all dressed up for the fancy-dress parade.

“We are all game for a laugh. It was good fun.”
