The first seven workers have completed a pioneering job training scheme for people with disabilities.
The employees at Loanhead’s IKEA store were the first to benefit from the ground-breaking Ready to Retail project.
The seven were presented with their certificates at a special ceremony at IKEA.
Established in 2010, Ready for Retail gives people with disabilities the opportunity to earn recognised qualifiations to enhance their future job prospects.
IKEA, Midlothian Council and Intowork set up the project and approached Borders College to develop an NCFE verified qualification. The course and qualification have been specifically created to meet a recognised lack of qualifications for people with disabilities in the retail industry.
